Our partners in Botswana are Sisonke and Bonela

Sisonke is a sex worker-led organisation in Botswana. Members are made up of male and female sex workers as well as immigrant sex workers from 5 districts in the country.

The Botswana Network on Ethics Law and HIV/AIDS (BONELA) was established and registered as a national network in 2002. Our purpose is to promote a human rights approach to the HIV/AIDS and TB response through awareness raising, capacity building and advocacy.

Bakang Ivan Ndaba

Bakang Ivan Ndaba is a young passionate post modern feminist, cohort 14 Yali alumni, poet and debater. They have extensive experience in working with young people on issues of SRHR, HIV, sex work and queer rights. They has been engaged on resource mobilisation, sustainable

development goals, project management, delegation and conflict resolution within the NGO space in Botswana. They aim to build their knowledge and skills in order to

contribute to their country through advocacy and research. Ivan believes that society and government should promote equity and inclusion for young people.

Irene Segopolo

Dr Irene Segopolo is a health communication and development communication lecturer at the University of Botswana. Dr Segopolo is experienced in qualitative research and is an advocate of participatory approaches to development communication, health communication and social and behaviour change communication (SBCC) strategies, reception theories and methodologies for cultural studies research, development communication approaches and methodologies, health communication; theories and strategies and methodologies. She has trained peer researchers for an Omnibus Survey on the Knowledge, Attitudes and Beliefs of the 'Abstinence, Be Faithful and Condom-use' of the students of the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) (five campuses), Durban University of Durban of Technology (DUT) (Steve Biko Campus and the University of Zululand. This research was sponsored by PEPFAR.
